Historic Rivermill's Equine Recreational Therapy is a thirty-minute, ground-based session with one of our gentle horses. Guests brush, hand-feed and have quiet contact with the horse, all from the ground. There is no riding and guests do not handle the lead. A trained Rivermill handler holds the horse for the full session.
Each guest must be accompanied by a carer or companion, who supports them throughout. Up to three guests per session. Carers and companions attend free of charge.
Sessions run Monday to Friday, 11:00am to 11:30am.
Ground-based, no riding: this session is ground interaction only. There is no riding, no mounting, and guests do not lead the horse.
Recreational, not clinical: this is a leisure-based recreational programme. It is not delivered by an allied-health professional and is not a clinical equine-assisted therapy.
